I bought Hector from Linda Miles of the LLanstinan Kennel is Mid Wales in January 2009. I bought him with the sole intention to show him and to use him on my stud dog Carriegame Ohmeohmy’s daughters. On both of these points he did exceptionally. In the show ring he did really well winning well as a puppy/junior and gaining his Junior Warrant and so stud book number. He delighted us by being 3rd not once but twice at Crufts.
Hector has always loves to retrieve (sorry never game although many of his offspring do) a ball. He was brilliant and finding lost balls in long grass, if any of the other dogs had lost the ball in the fields I could just put them away, and bring him out tell him to find it and it was wonderful to watch him naturally zigzag until he found the scent then he would straight to it and the ball was lost no more. Many times we have dropped gloves or other things on our walks and I could always retrace walks across fields of long grass telling him to find and he always found our lost property. Such a talent!
Hector proved to be an excellent stud dog, many of his offspring have of course become much loved family pets but others are become Assistance dogs, Working gundogs, and others have done very well in the show ring, some becoming Champions abroad (none in this country though).
He is now 13 and is still a big softy, loves to play, and loves to come running when he sees you from across the field. He is a treasure
